Chief Minister M.K. Stalin oversaw the formal signing of a major memorandum of understanding between the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Renault-Nissan alliance, securing an additional investment of 5,300 crore rupees to expand the consortium's automotive manufacturing footprint in the state. Stalin announced that this expansion unlocks the next operational phase for Renault-Nissan in India, adding new vehicle models to their local production lineup and generating 2,000 direct skilled jobs.

The Chief Minister highlighted that this fresh capital infusion strongly cements Chennai's reputation as the Automobile Capital of India and a premier global automotive manufacturing center. Under the agreement, the alliance will modernize its manufacturing complex, introduce new internal combustion and electric passenger vehicles, and expand research and development facilities. Stalin noted that Tamil Nadu's deep supplier ecosystem, port access, and engineering talent pool provide ideal conditions for global automotive leaders to scale output.

Stalin reiterated that his administration is aggressively pursuing industrial investments to accelerate economic growth and provide high-paying technical careers for regional youth. By delivering stable power, transparent single-window clearances, and proactive industrial policies, Tamil Nadu continues to strengthen its position as South Asia's foremost automotive and advanced manufacturing powerhouse.
