Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid foundation stones for the construction of dedicated memorial halls and bronze statues honoring eminent legislators and freedom fighters, including V.K. Palanisamy Gounder, Pollachi N. Mahalingam, former Union minister C. Subramaniam, and anti-colonial chieftain Malayandi Vengidupathi Ethalappar Nayakar of Thali. Stalin stated that these memorial auditoriums will celebrate leaders who made indelible contributions to Tamil Nadu's legislative democracy, industrial progress, agriculture, and freedom struggle.
The Chief Minister highlighted the distinct public achievements of each commemorated dignitary. C. Subramaniam played an architectural role in India's Green Revolution and industrial planning, while Pollachi Mahalingam was a visionary educationalist and industrial pioneer who enriched Tamil literature and Gandhian philosophy. Similarly, Ethalappar Nayakar organized early armed resistance against British colonial expansion, and V.K. Palanisamy Gounder championed agricultural welfare and rural electrification in the state assembly.
Stalin noted that commemorating exemplary public servants transcends ceremonial formality by instilling civic responsibility and cultural pride in younger citizens. The state government has allocated dedicated funds to ensure these memorial auditoriums feature archival documentation and public reading facilities, permanently embedding the leaders' historic service into regional collective memory.
