Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the CREDAI FairPro 2023 property expo in Chennai, announcing significant policy measures to modernize urban planning and support real estate development. Addressing property developers and homebuyers, Stalin revealed that the state government is transitioning planning permissions to online platforms under both the Directorate of Town and Country Planning and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.
The Chief Minister explained that automated single-window approval systems will eliminate procedural bottlenecks, reduce physical interface, and expedite residential project clearances. Alongside administrative simplification, Stalin pledged decisive state action to develop new satellite towns around Chennai and other tier-two municipal corporations. These planned townships aim to decongest existing urban centers, lower housing costs, and integrate modern public amenities with rapid transit corridors.
Stalin reiterated that his administration operates under the guiding principle of everything for everyone, striving to make quality, affordable shelter accessible across all economic strata. By expanding suburban infrastructure and upgrading regulatory frameworks, the government intends to foster orderly urban growth that balances commercial construction with environmental sustainability. He urged real estate developers to collaborate closely with public agencies in building inclusive, future-ready urban communities.
