Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered a stirring keynote address during the live centenary celebrations of iconic Dalit leader and former minister Annai Sathiyavani Muthu, organized by the DMK Women's Wing in Chennai. Paying homage to Muthu's historic contributions, Stalin recalled her fearless role as a founding stalwart of the Dravidian movement, who endured imprisonment and fierce social opposition to champion the civil rights, educational liberation, and dignity of Scheduled Caste communities and marginalized women.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Muthu served as an indispensable ministerial colleague to Arignar Anna and Kalaignar Karunanidhi, pioneering welfare departments specifically dedicated to Adi Dravidar welfare, women's vocational training, and free housing for sanitation workers. Stalin observed that her trailblazing political career demonstrated how oppressed women can attain institutional power and transform state policy into an instrument of radical social justice. Her life stands as an inspiring beacon for contemporary social reformers.
Stalin affirmed that the present Dravidian Model administration draws continuous inspiration from Muthu's uncompromising principles. He pledged to expand reservations, fund Dalit entrepreneurship schemes, and strengthen educational scholarships, ensuring that her visionary struggle for complete social equality is fulfilled in modern Tamil Nadu.
