Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a bronze statue of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in the southern coastal district of Kanyakumari. Addressing an impassioned gathering of citizens and political representatives, Stalin recalled that it was Karunanidhi who envisioned and erected the monumental 133-foot stone statue of Thiruvalluvar offshore, firmly anchoring Tamil pride and ethical philosophy at the southernmost tip of the Indian peninsula.
Stalin observed that statues honoring Karunanidhi are not mere physical monuments, but enduring historical testaments that recount the architecting of modern Tamil Nadu. Over five decades of legislative leadership, Karunanidhi spearheaded transformative infrastructure projects, rural electrification networks, state universities, industrial estates, and social welfare programs that elevated marginalized communities into mainstream society. Unveiling his memorial statue in Kanyakumari honors a tireless statesman whose governance principles continue to guide the present Dravidian Model administration.
The Chief Minister stressed that preserving the memory of pioneering leaders inspires contemporary generations to defend state autonomy and progressive social justice. Stalin pledged that his government will tirelessly pursue Karunanidhi's vision, expanding public welfare, coastal development, and educational investments across all southern districts.
