Highlighting recent national financial data on credit disbursals, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin noted that women in Tamil Nadu have secured the first position nationally in accessing personal loans and rank second across India in borrowing for housing, business expansion, and asset creation. Stalin analyzed this statistical trend as powerful, irrefutable evidence of the growing economic agency, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial confidence of Tamil Nadu women under progressive state policies.
The Chief Minister pointed out that women are utilizing institutional bank credit not for conspicuous consumption, but to build productive family assets, establish micro-enterprises, purchase homes, and finance their children's higher education. This vibrant financial inclusion has been catalyzed by the state's massive self-help group movement, which has empowered millions of rural and urban women with institutional credit linkages and financial independence. Stalin emphasized that banking institutions view women in Tamil Nadu as highly disciplined, trustworthy, and creditworthy borrowers.
Stalin affirmed that his administration will continue expanding micro-credit facilities, zero-interest loans, and entrepreneurial incubation support for women. He reiterated that financial self-reliance for women constitutes the true foundation of social equality and sustainable economic development.
