Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for a multi-specialty hospital wing at the Periyar Nagar Government Peripheral Hospital in Kolathur, sanctioned with a budgetary outlay of 71.81 crore rupees. Designed to expand comprehensive tertiary medical services for north Chennai residents, the state-of-the-art medical complex will feature advanced diagnostic centers, modern surgical suites, intensive care units, and specialized therapeutic treatment wings tailored specifically for persons with disabilities.
The Chief Minister emphasized that providing equitable, dignified, and world-class healthcare within government hospitals is a core founding commitment of the Dravidian Model governance. By establishing dedicated therapy blocks, inclusive rehabilitation centers, and specialized mobility assistance wards within a public peripheral hospital, the government is ensuring that differently-abled citizens receive compassionate, expert healthcare free of financial strain. Stalin noted that decentralizing tertiary clinical facilities relieves immense patient pressure on central government medical colleges.
Stalin instructed the Public Works Department and health administrators to execute the construction with high engineering quality and complete the facility within designated timelines. He reaffirmed that public healthcare modernization will remain an uncompromising priority across all districts in Tamil Nadu.
