Chief Minister M.K. Stalin attended a grand felicitation ceremony organized by powerloom weavers' associations in the western industrial belt of Tamil Nadu, home to thousands of thriving MSME textile units. Speaking to the large gathering of weavers, Stalin recalled the deep and enduring historical bond between the handloom and powerloom communities and the DMK movement, nurtured for decades under the leadership of Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar Karunanidhi. He emphasized that supporting traditional textile artisans is a matter of profound governmental duty.
The Chief Minister highlighted that his administration proactively announces power subsidies, raw material concessions, and working capital assistance for weavers without waiting for formal representations or public agitations. By increasing free electricity units for powerloom and handloom units, the government has provided direct operational relief against rising production costs. Stalin noted that strengthening the western region's decentralized textile clusters protects millions of rural livelihoods and sustains Tamil Nadu's dominant position in national textile manufacturing.
Stalin assured the weavers that their grievances regarding raw yarn price fluctuations and marketing support will receive prompt administrative resolution. He reaffirmed his government's unwavering dedication to the welfare and prosperity of weaver families.
