Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the outrageous physical assault on university students from Kerala by security personnel at the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) campus in Madhya Pradesh. Stalin expressed deep outrage that security staff, whose sworn primary responsibility is to protect students and maintain peaceful campus life, engaged in brutal violence against enrolled youth. He appealed to the Union Government and the Ministry of Education to immediately intervene and conduct an impartial inquiry.
The Chief Minister warned against the alarming and recurrent tendency of discrimination, harassment, and targeted hostility directed toward students from southern states in central universities. Stalin emphasized that higher educational institutions must serve as safe spaces for intellectual exploration, free debate, and cultural diversity rather than arenas of ethnic hostility and administrative high-handedness. Academic excellence cannot flourish when young scholars are subjected to fear, linguistic bias, and institutional intimidation.
Stalin urged central authorities to take strict disciplinary and legal action against those responsible for the violence. He reiterated that protecting the constitutional rights, personal safety, and democratic dignity of every student on university campuses is an inviolable national obligation.
