Chief Minister M.K. Stalin felicitated indigenous elephant caretakers Bomman and Bellie, along with frontline forest personnel, following the Oscar win for 'The Elephant Whisperers'. Recognizing their lifetime of selfless dedication to wildlife preservation, Stalin presented a cash award of one lakh rupees each to Bomman and Bellie. Demonstrating comprehensive institutional support, the Chief Minister announced a cash award of one lakh rupees each for all 91 mahouts and cavadies working across the Theppakkadu and Kozhikamuthi elephant camps.

In addition to financial awards, Stalin sanctioned 9.10 crore rupees from state funds to construct modern eco-friendly pucca houses for all elephant camp workers, ensuring dignified living conditions for their families. He also announced dedicated financial grants to upgrade basic civic infrastructure, clean drinking water, and healthcare facilities across tribal settlements in the Mudumalai and Anamalai tiger reserves. The Chief Minister highlighted that indigenous communities have guarded Tamil Nadu's forests and wildlife for generations through traditional ecological knowledge.

Stalin affirmed his administration's enduring commitment to forest conservation and tribal empowerment. He declared that honoring grassroots caretakers elevates Tamil Nadu's compassionate ecological stewardship before the global community.
