Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the comprehensive AVAL (Avoid Violence through Awareness and Learning) initiative during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Women Police force. Designed to create a safer environment for women and children across urban neighborhoods, the project introduces multi-pronged interventions led by trained women police personnel. The scheme focuses on upgrading police boys and girls clubs, imparting vocational and digital skills, conducting community outreach via social media, and providing martial arts self-defense training.
Stalin highlighted that true public safety requires active community engagement, institutional empathy, and proactive violence prevention rather than merely reacting to reported crimes. By empowering school girls and young women with physical defense techniques and legal awareness, the initiative builds self-reliance and civic confidence from an early age. The modern social media outreach component will bridge communication gaps between young citizens and law enforcement officers.
The Chief Minister commended the pioneering role played by women police officers over five decades of dedicated service. Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu remains steadfast in ensuring dignity, security, and equal rights for every woman and girl child.
