Chief Minister M.K. Stalin felicitated filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves, presenting her with a cash reward of one crore rupees following her Academy Award win for the documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers'. Commending the Ooty-raised director, Stalin praised the cinematic work for bringing global recognition to the dedicated wildlife conservation efforts of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. He noted that the Oscar-winning documentary captured the deep emotional bonds between indigenous caretakers and orphaned elephant calves at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the film illuminated the selfless labor of frontline forest personnel and indigenous mahouts whose contributions often remain unnoticed by the wider world. Stalin emphasized that Tamil Nadu maintains some of India's oldest and most scientifically managed elephant care facilities, where compassionate caretaking traditions have been preserved for centuries. Honoring creative achievements that spotlight ecological conservation inspires greater public awareness regarding wildlife protection and environmental stewardship across communities.

Stalin affirmed his administration's continued support for wildlife conservation, habitat restoration, and tribal community welfare. He congratulated Gonsalves for elevating Tamil Nadu's rich conservation heritage onto the international stage with outstanding creative brilliance.
