Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin urged Governor R.N. Ravi to immediately grant assent to the legislation banning online gambling and games of chance, highlighting that forty-one people have tragically lost their lives to suicide. The state assembly had enacted the legislation to protect families and youth from financial ruin and social devastation. Stalin pointed out that the Governor delayed the crucial bill for 131 days before returning it to the legislature, causing avoidable distress across the state.

Stalin noted that even Union ministers have clarified in Parliament that state governments hold full constitutional competence and legislative jurisdiction to regulate online gambling. With the state assembly's constitutional powers affirmed by central authorities, there remains no legitimate rationale for withholding assent from a life-saving welfare bill. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the Governor will recognize the urgent humanitarian necessity and sign the measure into law without further hesitation.

The administration affirmed that protecting vulnerable households from predatory gambling operations remains an absolute public priority.
