Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin personally inspected recovered mobile devices and handed them back to relieved owners during an event recognizing the Greater Chennai Police's successful mobile recovery initiative. Commending the dedicated cyber teams, Stalin highlighted that utilizing the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal enabled officers to trace and retrieve 1,000 mobile phones that had been reported lost or stolen across the city.
The Chief Minister stressed that effective law enforcement must be responsive to everyday citizen concerns. By employing advanced technical tracking tools rather than relying solely on conventional policing methods, the Chennai Police demonstrated exemplary diligence, technical skill, and public responsiveness. Stalin lauded the officers for restoring valuable personal assets, sensitive digital information, and peace of mind to working citizens, students, and senior citizens alike.
Stalin affirmed that the state government is committed to expanding digital forensic capabilities and cyber training across all police ranges in Tamil Nadu. He urged law enforcement officers to sustain high operational standards, deter digital criminality, and ensure that every citizen experiences prompt, transparent, and empathetic police service throughout the state.
