Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin dedicated the Mayor Citti Babu Flyover to the public at the busy Velachery Vijayanagar junction in south Chennai. The infrastructure project, constructed at a cost of approximately 67 crore rupees, provides seamless multi-directional connectivity, linking motorists traveling between Guindy, Taramani, Velachery, and Tambaram. Stalin noted that the flyover fulfills a long-standing demand of local residents and daily commuters who suffered prolonged traffic delays.

The Chief Minister underscored that the project honors the memory of former Mayor Citti Babu, an iconic DMK leader whose unwavering commitment to civic development and democratic resistance against the Emergency left an indelible mark on Chennai's history. Stalin stated that commemorating such public leaders through enduring public assets connects historical legacy with contemporary urban development.

Stalin inspected the completed elevated structure and interacted with local community members and engineers. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model administration is accelerating numerous flyovers, grade separators, and pedestrian walkways across Chennai to ensure smooth traffic movement, improve pedestrian safety, and construct sustainable urban infrastructure that matches the capital city's expanding industrial and technological prominence.
