Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally received Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his arrival at Chennai International Airport for an official visit to inaugurate major infrastructure projects. Extending state hospitality alongside cabinet colleagues and senior administrative officials, Stalin accompanied the Prime Minister during the ceremonial unveiling of the new integrated terminal building (T2), designed to handle surging domestic and international passenger traffic with modern aviation facilities and passenger amenities.
The newly constructed terminal incorporates architectural elements inspired by classical Tamil heritage, including traditional kolam motifs and temple architecture, blended with energy-efficient aviation technology. Stalin remarked that the expanded airport infrastructure will enhance Chennai's status as a major international gateway, facilitating international commerce, tourism, and direct global flight connectivity. He emphasized the state government's ongoing support in providing external road infrastructure and multimodal metro connectivity to the airport complex.
Following the airport reception, the leaders proceeded to participate in the flagging off of regional rail connectivity initiatives. Stalin reiterated that the state administration remains focused on augmenting critical transport nodes to maintain Tamil Nadu's competitive advantage in attracting global business investments.
