Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed the state-level High-Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting for Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare held at the Secretariat in Chennai. The statutory committee convened to evaluate the enforcement of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, review legal relief disbursed to affected individuals, and examine welfare development schemes implemented across districts. Ministers, senior bureaucrats, police officials, and representative members of the legislative assembly attended the proceedings.
During the session, Stalin instructed law enforcement authorities to act decisively and register complaints without hesitation whenever atrocities or discriminatory practices against marginalized communities are reported. He underscored the need for swift charge-sheeting, accelerated trial processes, and prompt disbursement of government compensation and rehabilitation packages to victims. Stalin warned that administrative apathy toward caste-based offenses would not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister also reviewed education, housing, and livelihood projects administered by the department. He stressed that regular monitoring through statutory oversight committees ensures government accountability, strengthens grassroots protection mechanisms, and reaffirms the state's unyielding commitment to upholding constitutional rights and social justice for all vulnerable citizens.
