As the Indian Democracy stands at crossroads, I've written to the CMs of non-BJP ruling states to extend their support to the resolution passed by TNLA urging the President & Union Govt to fix a time limit for Governors to approve the bills passed by the respective legislatures. https://t.co/6W51ORxATI

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed formal letters to Chief Ministers of twelve non-BJP ruled states, urging them to support the resolution adopted by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The historic resolution calls upon the President of India and the Union Government to establish a fixed, mandatory timeframe within which Governors must approve bills passed by state legislatures. Warning that Indian democracy stands at a critical crossroads, Stalin argued that inaction by appointed Governors threatens constitutional balance.
Stalin pointed out that Governors in multiple opposition-ruled states have adopted an unconstitutional practice of sitting indefinitely on legislation enacted by elected assemblies. By withholding or delaying assent without justification, gubernatorial offices effectively stall vital state policies on education, public health, and cooperative governance. Stalin emphasized that such practices reduce elected legislatures to administrative impotence and violate the democratic mandate given by the electorate.
Stalin urged fellow Chief Ministers to introduce similar resolutions in their own assemblies to build collective nationwide momentum. He declared that safeguarding federalism requires states to unite across regional and party lines to defend legislative independence from executive overreach.
