Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally engaged twelve Chief Ministers of non-BJP ruled states via social media, following up on his written appeal urging collective action against gubernatorial delays. Tagging regional counterparts including Arvind Kejriwal, Pinarayi Vijayan, Mamata Banerjee, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Hemant Soren, Naveen Patnaik, K. Chandrashekar Rao, Ashok Gehlot, Nitish Kumar, Bhupesh Baghel, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Bhagwant Mann, Stalin sought broad interstate solidarity for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly's resolution.
The initiative represents an unprecedented coordinated effort among state administrations to tackle institutional paralysis caused by appointed Governors withholding assent from bills passed by elected legislatures. Stalin requested these governments to consider passing similar resolutions in their respective state assemblies, urging the President and the Union Government to establish binding constitutional timeframes for gubernatorial decisions on legislative enactments.
Stalin stressed that cooperative federalism requires active mutual defense against centralizing overreach that weakens elected state assemblies. By bringing together leaders from diverse political parties across northern, eastern, and southern India, Stalin is fostering a robust united front to safeguard legislative autonomy and constitutional federalism across the entire Indian republic.
