'சம்பந்தி' என்று முத்தமிழறிஞர் கலைஞர் அவர்களால் அன்போடு அழைக்கப்பட்ட அவருக்குச் சிதம்பரத்தில் நூற்றாண்டு நினைவரங்கம் அமைத்துப் போற்றுவோம்! https://t.co/UXxLNDuzl8

Marking the centenary birth anniversary of veteran social reformer and Dalit rights pioneer L. Elayaperumal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the state government will construct a grand centenary memorial auditorium in Chidambaram to commemorate his historic contributions. Stalin recalled that Elayaperumal, born in the sacred soil associated with the devotional legend of Nandanar, dedicated his entire life to opening the doors of civil rights, dignity, and education for Scheduled Castes nationwide.
The Chief Minister highlighted Elayaperumal's pioneering leadership as chairman of the landmark federal committee on untouchability, which produced the seminal 1969 Elayaperumal Committee Report that exposed widespread caste atrocities and led directly to the enactment of stringent civil rights protections across India. Stalin recalled the deep affection and mutual respect between former Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi and Elayaperumal, noting that Kalaignar affectionately addressed him as Sambanthi.
Stalin affirmed that constructing the Chidambaram memorial hall is an enduring institutional tribute to a fearless warrior of human dignity. He pledged that the Dravidian Model governance will continually promote Elayaperumal's egalitarian ideals, working relentlessly to eradicate caste discrimination, promote social harmony, and empower marginalized communities.
