Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered a stirring address on the floor of the Legislative Assembly during a live broadcast, officially moving a statutory government resolution demanding constitutional amendments to extend Scheduled Caste reservation privileges to Adi Dravidar Christians. Addressing legislators, Stalin presented an evidence-based defense of inclusive social justice, explaining that socioeconomic deprivations stemming from caste stratification persist across generations regardless of individual religious faith.
The Chief Minister highlighted that several high-level judicial commissions and official expert committees, including the Kaka Kalelkar Commission, Mandal Commission, and Ranganath Misra Commission, have categorically documented that Dalit converts to Christianity continue to face social marginalization, educational backwardness, and economic deprivation. Stalin argued that constitutional safeguards must reflect empirical social realities rather than theological doctrines.
Stalin called upon all political parties represented in the house to transcend partisan divides and support the resolution unanimously. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu has consistently stood as the vanguard of the social justice movement in India, pledging that the state government will vigorously pursue this constitutional amendment with central authorities until equitable social justice and constitutional equality are achieved.
