Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid rich tribute to Justice Party founder Sir Pitti Theagarayar on his birth anniversary, celebrating his pioneering role in awakening Dravidian political consciousness and advancing social equality. Quoting Theagarayar's historic call to Dravidian people to rise, awaken, and march forward, Stalin hailed him as an enduring guiding beacon whose visionary leadership laid the foundations for affirmative action, institutional self-respect, and inclusive governance in South India.
Stalin highlighted Theagarayar's seminal contribution as the president of the Corporation of Madras in 1920, when he initiated the midday meal scheme for underprivileged school pupils at Thousand Lights. That historic welfare seed, Stalin noted, laid the policy foundation for Tamil Nadu's celebrated nutritional interventions, directly inspiring the DMK administration's Chief Minister Breakfast Scheme in state primary schools today. He observed that nourishing young minds ensures universal school attendance and educational retention.
Reaffirming the DMK's steadfast commitment to the Justice Party's ideological heritage, Stalin declared that his government will continually march along the reformist path charted by Theagarayar. He pledged untiring dedication toward safeguarding Tamil Nadu's social welfare achievements.
