Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the long-awaited Kolathur-Villivakkam railway overbridge, naming the major infrastructure project after veteran Dravidian leader and former Chennai Mayor Citti Babu. Stalin recalled with deep emotion Citti Babu's heroic sacrifice during the Emergency under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), when Citti Babu shielded Stalin from brutal prison assaults, ultimately giving his own life.
The Chief Minister noted that naming the flyover after Citti Babu provides a permanent civic monument to his public service and selfless devotion. During his constituency tour, Stalin also laid the foundation stone for an advanced electrical sub-station and diverse developmental schemes valued at one hundred and eleven crore rupees. He pointed out that Kolathur suffered ten years of deliberate neglect under the previous administration, but is now evolving into a benchmark model constituency through accelerated civic development across all sectors.
Stalin expressed immense gratitude for the affection showered upon him by the residents of Kolathur, who have elected him as their legislator for three consecutive terms. He reaffirmed that public smiles and community welfare remain his greatest motivation as Chief Minister.
