Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a press briefing at the Villupuram Government Medical College Hospital after conducting intensive inspections of wards treating victims of spurious liquor consumption. Stalin briefed reporters on the emergency clinical measures deployed by teams of specialized toxicologists, confirming that government hospitals were fully equipped with critical medicines, hemodialysis units, and life-support systems to treat affected individuals.
The Chief Minister detailed the prompt administrative interventions initiated across Villupuram and Chengalpattu, noting that police units had apprehended multiple bootleggers and seized stocks of toxic industrial methanol. He emphasized that the transfer of investigations to the CB-CID would ensure that the entire supply chain, from industrial chemical diversion to local retail distribution, is thoroughly dismantled without any exception. Stalin reiterated that departmental inquiries were instituted against supervisory police officers to enforce strict accountability for enforcement failures.
Stalin assured the families of victims that the government will cover all hospitalization expenditures and provide necessary relief assistance. He reiterated his administration's determination to maintain constant vigilance against illicit alcohol distribution, warning that anyone endangering citizen lives will face uncompromising legal retribution.
