Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered a rousing keynote address at the Golden Jubilee conference of the Labour Progressive Federation in Chennai, broadcast live to trade union units across Tamil Nadu. Stalin celebrated five decades of militant, democratic trade unionism led by the federation, commending its consistent defense of industrial democracy and employee welfare against unfair management practices.
In his address, the Chief Minister underscored that the Dravidian movement was founded on the fundamental principle of defending the marginalized, working-class masses against caste hegemony and economic exploitation. He outlined various welfare policies introduced by his government, such as enhanced accidental insurance, timely settlement of transport worker pension dues, and safety modernizations in hazardous industries. Stalin cautioned union delegates against corporate policies that seek to dilute hard-won labor laws, fixed working hours, and social security nets.
Stalin exhorted the federation to remain politically vigilant and ideologically resolute in safeguarding workers' interests in a rapidly automating industrial economy. He pledged that the Dravidian Model governance will continually stand by labor unions to guarantee humane working conditions, equitable remuneration, and institutional dignity for every worker.
