Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed the Golden Jubilee conference of the Labour Progressive Federation (LPF), the prominent trade union wing of the Dravidian முன்னேற்றக் கழகம் (DMK) in Chennai. Stalin paid tribute to the pioneering trade unionists who built the organized labor movement in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that workers democratically elect their own leaders within the federation to champion labor rights.
The Chief Minister highlighted the long, illustrious record of DMK administrations in securing labor welfare, recalling the creation of thirty-six unorganized workers welfare boards under former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. He detailed government measures enacted to protect transport employees, electricity board technicians, tea plantation workers, and sugar mill laborers across the state. Stalin urged LPF members to cultivate ideological sharpness and socialist awareness, drawing inspiration from legendary leaders including Singaravelar, Thiru. V. Kalyanasundaram, and Professor K. Anbazhagan.
Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK government remains an unyielding defender of working-class dignity, fair wages, workplace safety, and collective bargaining rights. He called upon union comrades to organize unorganized labor sectors actively and resist regressive anti-labor legislative amendments across India with united solidarity.
