Today I had a fruitful meeting with Mr K.Shanmugham, Minister for Home Affairs and Law, Government of Singapore. We discussed a wide range of issues of common interest like cybersecurity, strengthening of procurement systems and skilling of youth seeking employment. Invited him for Tamil Nadu’s Global Investors' Meet to be held at Chennai in January 2024. I have also assured to take up with Government of India, the suggestion for direct air connectivity between Madurai and Singapore.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a highly substantive bilateral meeting in Singapore with K. Shanmugam, Singapore's Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law. The two leaders engaged in detailed discussions on several areas of mutual cooperation, focusing on cybersecurity enhancements, institutional procurement systems, and advanced vocational skilling for Tamil Nadu youth seeking international employment.
During their talks, Stalin invited Minister Shanmugam to attend the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet scheduled for January 2024 in Chennai, highlighting the expanding economic avenues available for Singaporean enterprises. The Chief Minister also gave a firm assurance that the Tamil Nadu government would vigorously petition the Ministry of Civil Aviation in New Delhi to establish direct international passenger flight connectivity between Madurai and Singapore. Such direct air routes, Stalin noted, would greatly benefit south Tamil Nadu's commerce, medical tourism, and extensive diaspora travel.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to fostering enduring administrative and technological partnerships between Singapore and Tamil Nadu. Stalin emphasized that sharing global best practices in governance, law enforcement modernization, and vocational education will empower the state to deliver efficient, forward-looking public services to all citizens.
