Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened an emergency press conference at the state disaster control center to detail extensive government actions following the Coromandel Express train accident in Odisha. Stalin briefed journalists on the immediate steps initiated to identify, treat, and repatriate passengers belonging to Tamil Nadu who were traveling aboard the ill-fated train.
The Chief Minister explained that an emergency control room had been activated at Chennai Central railway station in coordination with the Southern Railway administration. Special rescue teams and medical personnel were deployed to assist arriving families, while direct communication channels were established with district collectors across northern Odisha. Stalin noted that senior state ministers and administrators dispatched to the site had already begun coordinating hospital transfers, identifying victims, and organizing dedicated return transit for survivors.
Stalin emphasized that the Tamil Nadu government is covering all medical expenses, food, and transport arrangements for rescued passengers returning to the state. He assured citizens that administrative machinery will function around the clock until every affected traveler is accounted for, underscoring his government's humanitarian responsibility in times of national crisis.
