Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound anguish over the devastating train collision in Balasore, Odisha, which claimed hundreds of innocent lives and injured hundreds more. Stalin announced that the Tamil Nadu government is executing disaster response operations on a war footing. He noted that preliminary inquiries confirmed no passengers from Tamil Nadu were among the identified deceased or critically injured individuals admitted to local hospitals.
To ensure comprehensive passenger safety, the Chief Minister instructed the high-level ministerial delegation stationed in Odisha to remain on the ground until every single Tamil Nadu passenger arrived safely in Chennai. Stalin also placed three premier government medical college hospitals in Chennai on high alert, creating dedicated emergency trauma teams and reserving specialized burn and surgical wards to provide immediate advanced medical care to arriving injured survivors.
Stalin affirmed that in moments of profound national grief, humanitarian solidarity transcends state borders. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu stands fully prepared to extend every necessary form of medical, logistical, and financial support to Odisha and the affected families as they recover from this heartbreaking national catastrophe.
