Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated five hundred newly established Urban Health and Wellness Centers across municipal corporations and municipalities throughout Tamil Nadu. Stalin observed that while rural primary health centers historically formed the sturdy backbone of the state's healthcare system, rapid urbanization necessitated extending identical primary medical services to congested municipal neighborhoods. The new urban health facilities aim to comprehensively fulfill the daily medical, diagnostic, preventative, and wellness needs of vulnerable low-income urban families.
The Chief Minister highlighted that each urban wellness center is staffed with medical officers, staff nurses, and lab technicians, offering free consultation, essential medicines, maternity checks, and non-communicable disease screenings. Stalin remarked that Tamil Nadu's exemplary healthcare and educational achievements stand as a beacon of progress nationwide, answering critics through undeniable developmental outcomes.
Stalin reaffirmed that delivering high-quality, dependable healthcare to every citizen, regardless of economic background or social status, remains the core mission of his administration. He pledged that the health department will continue expanding modern clinical infrastructure to ensure that high-quality comprehensive healthcare is easily accessible within short walking distance in every urban neighborhood.
