Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued a direct political challenge to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his official visit to Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a large public gathering in Salem, Stalin outlined an exhaustive catalogue of historic development projects secured for Tamil Nadu during the DMK's participation in previous Union governments, including the Chennai Metro Rail project, classic language status for Tamil, Sethusamudram initiatives, and major national highways. He challenged Shah to present a comparable list of signature development initiatives sanctioned by the Bharatiya Janata Party over nine years of governance.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Union government is targeting opposition-led administrations using coercive central agencies because it cannot tolerate the growing national resonance of the Dravidian Model governance. Stalin stated unequivocally that neither he nor any member of the DMK will ever be intimidated by investigative agencies dispatched from New Delhi. He emphasized that the DMK draws its collective strength from resolute leaders like Veerapandi S. Arumugam who never compromised on democratic principles.
Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu will continue to champion cooperative federalism and equitable fiscal rights against centralizing overreach ahead of the 2024 elections.
