Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin interacted with media representatives during an official press conference convened at Mettur Dam following the ceremonial water release. Stalin outlined the detailed engineering preparations undertaken by the Water Resources Department, noting that desilting operations across thousands of kilometers of delta canals had been completed ahead of time. He emphasized that opening the reservoir on June 12 for the third consecutive year demonstrates his government's administrative focus on farmer welfare.
The Chief Minister answered extensive questions regarding river water sharing, inter-state reservoir levels, and agricultural distribution systems. He explained that the Kuruvai Cultivation Package 2023 had been structured to provide immediate financial and material assistance to cultivators across Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and neighboring districts. Stalin emphasized that regular monitoring by designated senior district monitoring officers will guarantee smooth irrigation supply without systemic bottlenecks.
Stalin reiterated that his administration combines prompt policy action with transparent public communication across all governance tiers. He reaffirmed that safeguarding the livelihood of hardworking farmers and expanding agricultural output across all districts remain the foundational priorities of Tamil Nadu's comprehensive socio-economic development agenda.
