Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally inaugurated the Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital at the historic King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research campus in Guindy. Built at an investment of 230 crore rupees within a record timeframe of just fifteen months, the thousand-bed tertiary medical facility honors the enduring public health legacy of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi during his centenary year. When the President was unable to attend, Stalin arranged for staff nurses to inaugurate the institution.
The state-of-the-art healthcare complex features comprehensive advanced specialty departments, including cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical gastroenterology, nephrology, and modern diagnostic laboratories. Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model of administration prioritizes free access to world-class medical treatments for underprivileged families across Tamil Nadu. He recalled Karunanidhi's inspirational resolve that historic achievements are forged by courageously overcoming severe trials and political obstacles throughout public life.
Stalin commended the state health department, medical professionals, and construction engineers for completing the complex ahead of schedule with uncompromising architectural quality. He affirmed that this flagship medical institution will provide life-saving clinical interventions to citizens from across Tamil Nadu.
