Great meeting today at Patna with esteemed leaders of various secular, progressive parties. I stressed once again that defeating BJP should be our single-point agenda. We discussed strategies to strengthen our unity and collectively work towards our common goal. I regret missing the joint press conference as I had a flight to catch.
The coming together of major Non-BJP parties cutting across many states and distinct ideologies is a precursor to our victory in 2024 to rebuild a progressive and inclusive India. We will get even bigger and stronger by the next meeting at Shimla.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin attended the landmark consultative meeting of national secular and progressive opposition parties hosted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. Stalin reported that the deliberations concluded with exceptional mutual warmth and ideological resolve among senior national leaders. He emphasized that during the closed-door conference, he reiterated with absolute clarity that defeating the authoritarian Bharatiya Janata Party must serve as the single-point agenda uniting all secular political forces heading into the 2024 general elections.
The Chief Minister stressed that opposition parties engaged in constructive discussions to devise robust regional seat-sharing mechanisms and collective campaign strategies to prevent the division of anti-BJP votes. He noted that the historic convergence of major regional and national parties, transcending geographical boundaries and historic rivalries, represents the undeniable precursor to victory for democratic forces in 2024. Stalin regretted his inability to attend the joint press conference due to a scheduled flight back to Chennai.
Stalin declared that the democratic coalition will expand and grow even more formidable during the subsequent follow-up meeting scheduled in Shimla. He affirmed that national opposition solidarity guarantees the protection of constitutional secularism and cooperative federalism.
