Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered the special address during the valedictory celebrations of the SIRPI student training program organized by the Chennai City Police at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. Stalin explained that modern community policing requires breaking down traditional barriers of fear between law enforcement personnel and civilian youth. By transforming police officers into compassionate mentors and guides for five thousand school students across one hundred government schools, the SIRPI model established a revolutionary benchmark in proactive crime prevention.
The Chief Minister commended Greater Chennai Police leadership, nodal officers, and school headmasters for dedicating their weekends to conduct physical training, self-defense classes, swimming coaching, and educational field excursions. He observed that exposing underprivileged students to constitutional values, civic duties, and career avenues instills deep self-confidence and shields them from anti-social inducements. Stalin noted that keeping children away from tobacco, alcohol, and illicit narcotic substances is essential to securing Tamil Nadu's social health.
Stalin encouraged the assembled students to become active guardians of civic welfare and pursue ambitious educational aspirations. He pledged continued state budgetary support to institutionalize the SIRPI initiative permanently across municipal corporations.
