#InternationalDayAgainstDrugAbuse

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over the grand valedictory ceremony of the pioneering SIRPI initiative—Students In Responsible Police Initiatives—at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Quoting revolutionary poet Pavendhar Bharathidasan's stirring verses on youth leadership, Stalin commended the five thousand school students who completed rigorous physical fitness, legal awareness, and civic responsibility training under the mentorship of the Greater Chennai Police.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the SIRPI project was specially conceived to identify vulnerable children from disadvantaged urban backgrounds and channel their energies into constructive community leadership. Through experiential weekend camps, educational field visits, sports activities, and de-addiction awareness sessions, the program transformed participating boys and girls into disciplined ambassadors of social righteousness. Stalin emphasized that nurturing young minds with moral character and physical resilience serves as the ultimate preventive barrier against youth involvement in crime and substance abuse.
Stalin urged the graduating students to uphold moral integrity, excel in higher education, and protect their peers from narcotic temptations. He affirmed that Tamil Nadu will expand youth development programs statewide.
