Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed a large gathering of local residents and civic administrators after dedicating the Stephenson Road railway overbridge in his Kolathur assembly constituency. Stalin shared fond memories of former MLA Chengai Sivam, an untiring community organizer whose lifelong public service was memorialized through the naming of the major transit flyover. He explained that executing complex civil engineering projects in densely populated urban neighborhoods requires close administrative coordination between the Greater Chennai Corporation, Southern Railway, and Highways department.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the newly commissioned bridge provides a crucial four-lane transit link connecting Vyasarpadi, Perambur, and Kolathur, saving daily commuters substantial travel time and fuel costs. He pointed out that since assuming office, his administration has sanctioned and executed numerous road widenings, bridge reconstructions, and modernized public bus terminals throughout Chennai. Stalin affirmed that urban modernization must go hand in hand with preserving residential peace and environmental safety.

Stalin thanked the people of Kolathur for their enduring trust and affection, promising to continually enhance constituency infrastructure. He concluded that public infrastructure under the DMK regime serves as a lasting foundation for community prosperity.
