Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin attended and addressed a grand community wedding ceremony organized under the auspices of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department at the Thiruvanmiyur Marundeeswarar Temple grounds in Chennai. Blessings were solemnized for numerous newly wedded couples from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with the state government sponsoring gold thalis, bridal silk garments, household utility vessels, and initial living provisions. Stalin congratulated the couples, wishing them lifetimes of enduring affection, mutual respect, and prosperous harmony.
The Chief Minister pointed out that under the Dravidian Model government, temple administration has returned to its authentic welfare roots, utilizing temple revenues to serve common citizens through social justice measures. He noted that the department regularly organizes mass weddings, conducts community feasts, renovates ancient shrines, and restores thousands of acres of encroached temple lands to public trust. Stalin emphasized that genuine spirituality lies in selfless service to humanity and eradicating socioeconomic destitution.
Stalin urged the newly married couples to manage their households on principles of gender equality, self-respect, and rational living. He reaffirmed that his government will continually expand inclusive welfare initiatives across all religious and community institutions.
