Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin participated in the 121st birth anniversary celebrations of former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj, observed statewide as Kalvi Valarchi Naal, at the Nehru Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Nanganallur. Stalin paid rich floral tributes to the visionary leader who pioneered universal school education and the historic mid-day meal scheme. He reiterated that his administration remains guided by Kamaraj's egalitarian ideals of delivering accessible, quality schooling to children across all socioeconomic strata.
Recalling a personal pledge made upon assuming the DMK working presidency in 2017, Stalin noted that he had requested party cadres and well-wishers to present books rather than floral bouquets or shawls. Over the years, he has distributed more than one and a half lakh gifted volumes to rural reading rooms, public libraries, and eager individual students who wrote to him. Continuing this tradition on Kalvi Valarchi Naal, Stalin formally handed over 7,740 curated books to the Directorate of Public Libraries.
The Chief Minister highlighted that inaugurating the Kalaignar Centenary Library on Kamaraj's anniversary fulfills C.N. Annadurai's vision of creating a library in every household. He urged students to read extensively and expand their worldview.
