Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Sathyadev Law Academy in Chennai, an educational trust headed by retired High Court Judge K. Chandru to provide specialized legal training for underprivileged students. Stalin noted that historically, education and employment were monopolized by privileged classes until sustained Dravidian struggles secured statutory reservations and democratic access. He explained that following the enactment of the Advocates Act in 1961 and progressive affirmative action policies, youth from marginalized backgrounds entered the legal fraternity in substantial numbers.
The Chief Minister commended film actor Suriya for his sustained personal commitment to educational philanthropy, alongside director T.J. Gnanavel following their impactful collaboration on Jai Bhim. Stalin observed that unlike ordinary vocations, the legal and medical professions require continuous, rigorous practical training to achieve excellence. To support aspiring lawyers from disadvantaged rural communities, Stalin directed state officials to integrate training modules from the Sathyadev Law Academy into the flagship Naan Mudhalvan skill initiative.
Stalin congratulated Justice Chandru and trustees for establishing the institution to foster professional competence and constitutional awareness. He reiterated that expanding equitable legal training strengthens the administration of justice.
