I have written to Hon'ble @gssjodhpur requesting the release of #Cauvery water and highlighting the risks faced by the current Kuruvai crop in Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, I have urged immediate attention to this critical issue. https://t.co/UribUwcqy5

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed an urgent official communication to Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, petitioning the central government to ensure the immediate release of Tamil Nadu's legitimate share of Cauvery river water from upper riparian reservoirs in Karnataka. Stalin highlighted that the standing Kuruvai paddy crop across the fertile Cauvery delta region faces severe distress due to alarming water deficits in Mettur Reservoir.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Karnataka authorities have failed to comply with the monthly water release schedule stipulated by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and confirmed by the Supreme Court of India. With hundreds of thousands of acres of vegetative paddy fields entering crucial growth stages, the lack of timely irrigation supplies threatens extensive crop failure and disastrous livelihood loss for delta farmers. Stalin urged the Union Minister to convene the Cauvery Water Management Authority immediately and issue binding directives for releasing accumulated deficits.
Stalin emphasized that safeguarding the agrarian economy of the delta represents an urgent national responsibility. He reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will vigorously pursue all constitutional and legal avenues to protect farmers' water entitlements.
