Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the statewide application registration camps for the pathbreaking Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme at Thoppur in Dharmapuri district. Recalling Periyar's historic enquiry into the causes of women's subjugation, Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian movement has continually shattered patriarchal shackles through progressive legislation. He situated the basic income initiative as the crowning culmination of reforms championed by Periyar, C.N. Annadurai, and M. Karunanidhi to grant women economic autonomy.

The Chief Minister visited the registration camp counters in Thoppur, directly interacting with women applicants who gathered to submit their application forms. Listening attentively to their life experiences, Stalin noted that the monthly entitlement of one thousand rupees represents genuine recognition of women's unacknowledged domestic labour and will provide them with indispensable financial dignity. He expressed deep emotional fulfillment upon seeing the spark of self-confidence radiant in the eyes of participating women.

Stalin affirmed that fulfilling this landmark electoral pledge during the Kalaignar Centenary year delivers monumental social justice to over one crore women. He promised that the historic march toward universal gender equality will proceed with unceasing administrative vigour.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
