Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended Health Minister Ma. Subramanian and race organizers for successfully conducting the Kalaignar 100 International Marathon in Chennai, which created a Guinness World Record with more than 73,000 registered runners. Stalin underscored that beyond setting numerical benchmarks, the event made sports history as a landmark social justice marathon by welcoming over one thousand transgender athletes to compete alongside general participants on equal terms.
The Chief Minister noted that the marathon honoured former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's centenary legacy by celebrating physical fitness, civic participation, and profound social inclusivity. By creating dedicated categories and support systems for transgender persons, the event exemplified Tamil Nadu's pioneering commitment to equal human dignity and progressive community integration. Stalin observed that running through the scenic coastal roads of Chennai fostered a vibrant spirit of camaraderie, public enthusiasm, and collective health awareness.
Stalin emphasized that athletic events should be held regularly across the state to nurture mental stamina and physical resilience among citizens. He encouraged students, professionals, and the general public to embrace sports enthusiastically as part of everyday wellness and communal harmony.
