Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condemned the Rajya Sabha's passage of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, calling it a dark chapter for Indian democracy. Stalin argued that stripping an elected state government of administrative authority over civil servants violates basic federal principles and subverts democratic mandates given by the electorate. He criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for targeting opposition-ruled territories while failing to restore peace in strife-torn Manipur despite months of prolonged civil unrest and human suffering.
The Chief Minister also reprimanded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leadership for voting in support of the controversial legislation in Parliament. Stalin stated that backing central encroachment on local executive powers betrays regional autonomy and exposes the opposition party's total submission to central directives. He pointed out that passing such coercive central legislation by a margin of twenty-nine votes diminishes administrative dignity across the national capital.
Stalin affirmed that the people of India will decisively reject autocratic measures that undermine state rights during coming general elections. He pledged that DMK will continue championing genuine cooperative federalism alongside national opposition parties across the country.
