Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a life-size bronze statue of Dravidian veteran K. Anbazhagan at the government education complex in Nungambakkam, Chennai. The ceremony commemorated August 10, marking the launch of the historic second anti-Hindi agitation in 1948. Stalin emphasized that the educational campus named after Anbazhagan offered the most fitting venue to honour the scholar who devoted his public career to preserving Tamil linguistic rights and promoting rationalist social ideals across generations.

Speaking at the unveiling, Stalin led attendees in taking a solemn pledge to build a progressive Tamil Nadu grounded in rational thinking, universal schooling, and self-respect values. He described Anbazhagan as a steadfast guide who stood beside the Dravidian movement through decades of political struggle. Stalin noted that remembering linguistic heritage protects regional pride and strengthens public resolve against centralized language policies.

The Chief Minister affirmed that his administration remains dedicated to advancing inclusive education while defending state autonomy. He urged younger generations to draw inspiration from Anbazhagan's scholarly dedication and unwavering commitment to social justice. Stalin reiterated that safeguarding linguistic heritage ensures democratic equality and protects regional identity across India.
