Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially flagged off one hundred comprehensively refurbished government transport corporation buses for public service in Chennai, alongside Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar and senior transport officials. Stalin inspected the upgraded fleet, which features modernized passenger seating, reinforced chassis structures, energy-efficient lighting, enhanced suspension systems, and upgraded safety features designed to improve commuter comfort across regional bus routes.
The Chief Minister emphasized that public transport represents the lifeline of working-class mobility, connecting students, daily wage earners, rural vendors, and office commuters with educational hubs and commercial centers. He noted that alongside inducting brand-new electric and diesel buses, rebuilding and modernizing existing bus bodies extends vehicle operational life, maximizes public capital efficiency, and expands fleet availability without imposing additional financial burdens on the state exchequer.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian Model administration prioritizes accessible, affordable, and safe public transportation for all citizens. He highlighted that pioneering initiatives like the zero-fare bus travel scheme for women have revolutionized socio-economic mobility, pledging continuous investments in modernizing Tamil Nadu's public transit infrastructure.
Stalin reiterated that modernizing public transport fleets ensures comfortable daily travel, supporting working-class mobility and economic productivity statewide.
