Happy #WorldElephantDay! 🐘
Tamil Nadu Government is committed to protecting its precious wildlife. With the notification of the new Agathiyamalai Elephant Reserve, upgradation of two elephant camps, restoration of degraded forests, empowerment of elephant caretakers, modernisation of forest force and innovative solutions with AI-enabled surveillance using thermal cameras, we are committed to conservation of elephants.
The #TNElephantConclave in Coimbatore reinforces our dedication to elephant conservation. Together, let's secure a brighter future for these gentle giants.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated World Elephant Day by reaffirming his government's comprehensive commitment to protecting wildlife corridors and ensuring humane conservation of wild elephants. Highlighting landmark environmental measures, Stalin detailed the official notification of the new Agathiyamalai Elephant Reserve, the extensive modernization of state forest forces, and the significant infrastructure upgrades undertaken at historic elephant rehabilitation camps in Theppakadu and Kozhikamuthi.
The Chief Minister highlighted technological innovations deployed by the forest department, particularly artificial intelligence-powered surveillance systems equipped with thermal imaging cameras along sensitive railway corridors to prevent tragic train collisions. He commended mahouts and cavady caretakers for their generational knowledge, emphasizing that state welfare policies provide enhanced compensation, housing, and healthcare to indigenous forest dwellers. Stalin noted that the Tamil Nadu Elephant Conclave in Coimbatore reinforced the state's pioneering conservation strategies.
Stalin affirmed that safeguarding elephant habitats is vital for maintaining ecological balance, river basin health, and forest biodiversity. He called upon citizens and environmental institutions to collaborate in ensuring a secure and sustainable future for wild elephant populations across Tamil Nadu.
He reaffirmed that protecting wildlife corridors ensures harmonious coexistence between human settlements and forest ecosystems across the state.
