Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin declared that the state government and ruling coalition allies will boycott the ceremonial 'At Home' reception hosted by Governor R.N. Ravi on Independence Day. Stalin condemned the Governor's public remarks defending the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and his refusal to respect the democratically elected government, terming his conduct callous, anti-student, and fundamentally antithetical to parliamentary constitutional norms.

The Chief Minister stated that the Governor's persistent refusal to grant timely assent to critical bills passed by the state legislature reveals overt disdain for the aspirations of Tamil Nadu's citizens. He remarked that when students are dying by suicide due to the pressures of NEET, the Governor's insensitivity cannot be tolerated or legitimized through ceremonial attendance. Stalin emphasized that gubernatorial offices must function strictly within constitutional boundaries rather than acting as political impediments.

Stalin affirmed that the boycott serves as a principled protest against unconstitutional interference and executive overreach. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu will fiercely defend its legislative sovereignty, state autonomy, and student welfare against administrative obstruction.

He emphasized that elected state administrations derive authority directly from citizens and cannot allow unelected constitutional functionaries to obstruct progressive reforms.
