Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unfurled the national tricolor at Fort St. George in Chennai during the official celebrations marking India's 77th Independence Day. Delivering his ceremonial address from the historic ramparts, Stalin announced major welfare policies, including the creation of a specialized welfare board for gig workers, an increase in pension allowances for freedom fighters, and expanded financial incentives for meritorious students.
The Chief Minister articulated the core philosophy of Dravidian Model governance, asserting that administrative sovereignty and political liberty derive true legitimacy only when they guarantee social justice, communal harmony, and economic empowerment for marginalized citizens. He emphasized that the state government actively guards the constitutional principles of federalism, secularism, and linguistic pluralism. Stalin noted that equitable state progress depends upon shielding democratic institutions against divisive, authoritarian encroachments.
Stalin called upon citizens across the republic to unite in safeguarding India's composite democratic heritage. He reaffirmed his government's resolve to drive inclusive industrial progress while expanding public healthcare, school education, and women's empowerment across Tamil Nadu.
He reiterated that true independence is realized only when administrative systems guarantee equal dignity, economic security, and fundamental constitutional liberties to every citizen.
