DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commemorated the 90th birth anniversary of veteran parliamentarian and ideological stalwart Murasoli Maran by offering floral tributes at the historic party office in Silaiman, Madurai. Recalling that the branch office was inaugurated in 1952 by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, Stalin described Maran as Karunanidhi's living conscience, whose sharp intellect, parliamentary mastery, and writings defended federalism across decades.
The Chief Minister spotlighted Maran's monumental treatise, State Autonomy (Maanila Suyaatchi), characterizing it as an indispensable political treasure that every citizen, student, and political thinker must thoroughly study. He emphasized that Maran's rigorous legal and constitutional analysis provides the theoretical bedrock for the DMK's ongoing struggle against fiscal centralization and administrative overreach by the Union government. Stalin noted that Maran's parliamentary speeches safeguarded India's federal diversity against monolithic uniformity.
Stalin called upon the younger generation of cadres and scholars to study Maran's ideological contributions and disseminate his federal principles nationwide. He affirmed that upholding state rights and linguistic equality remains the ultimate tribute to Maran's indelible legacy within the Dravidian movement.
He emphasized that Maran's principled struggle for state autonomy continues to guide Tamil Nadu's constitutional battles.
